Hey, guys! Hopefully this will pretty easy to understand but if you have ANY questions whatsoever, don't hesitate to contact me!

1. Open up Workshop and Gimp and select "Create New Project."

2. You're going to get a pop-up asking what you want to make. If you're using a third parties mesh, go under "New Import" which is the box icon under "Imports" and hit Next.

3. And now you're going to get yet another of many pop-ups! This is basically asking you to locate what mesh you want to edit. If you downloaded the mesh in a .sims3pack, you need to click the drop box and select ".sims3pack" and do the same if it's for a .package file! Hit "Browse" to look for it... Found it? Great! Double click it or select it and hit open. You'll have to give your project a name and description, blah, blah, blah.

I'm using a .package but this will look the same for .sims3packs!

4. After you've selected the mesh, you're going to click "Next" and wait for Workshop to load it... This might take awhile so don't freak out if it takes a minute or two.

5. Once it finally loads, you'll see a panel to the right. Up at the top it will have 3 (three) tabs; Project, Texture, and Mesh.
What we'll be using is the "Texture" tab so go ahead and click on that one!

6. Here you'll find all the main parts of the mesh:

- The Multiplier
- The Specular
- The Mask
- The Stencils

The main things we'll be working with today are the Multiplier and the Stencils tab (scroll down and you'll find it under the "patterns" section)

7. Now first we're going to export our Multiplier so we can place the stencil in the right place without taking a shot in the dark!

To export this .dds file, click on the Multiplier section so it turns dark green and hit "Edit."

8. Once you do that, ANOTHER pop-up will ask you what you want to do this this file. You're going to go up to the right and you'll see a little box with a red arrow called "Export." Go ahead and click that and place the file somewhere you'll find it easily (I place mine on my Desktop) and save it.

9. Go to wherever you put the Multiplier and open it with Gimp. You'll get a dialogue box and untick the box that says "Load Mipmaps." After it loads, you're going to go find the picture you want for your stencil and right click on it and choose "Edit with Gimp."

NOTE: YOUR STENCIL NEEDS TO HAVE A TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND OR THIS WILL NOT WORK!

10. You should have 2 (two) Gimp windows now, one of your stencil, the other for the Multiplier.

11. Click the top of the window for your stencil to make it active if it isn't already and press Ctrl + A (or go to Select > All) and then Ctrl + C (or go to Edit > Copy) and paste it onto your Multiplier window. Now in the Layers Panel you'll have the pasted selection. We're going to right-click it and choose "To New Layer."

12. Alright! Now we need to re-size and relocate our soon-to-be stencil! The tools we'll be using to do this are the "Move Tool" and the "Scale Tool" over in the Toolbox panel.

13. Re-size and move your image onto where you want the stencil to be and when you've finished doing so, select the layer that your Multiplier is on, right click, and choose "Delete Layer."

14. You'll be left with your perfectly placed stencil! All we have to do now is go to File > Export and change the file type to a .png instead of a .dds!

15. Go back to Workshop and scroll down until you see the "Stencils" section and click the little "+" symbols until it looks like this:

And click on the "Texture" square, just like we did to export the Multiplier and it will turn dark green and have an "Edit" button!

16. It's almost over, I promise! Click "Edit" and the same pop-up from the multiplier will appear, only this time the box is empty and really small! Go to the top and hit "Import" and find your new .png image (you'll have to change the file type in the drop box from .dds to Bitmap Image), double click it, hit "Done", and a box will pop up, just hit "Yes/Continue."
(Ignore my file type - I saved it wrong and had to go back and change it!)

17. Don't freak out! Your stencil will NOT be on the mesh yet! You have to go down to "Enabled" and change it to "True!"

18. Congratulations! You just added a stencil onto your mesh! Now all that's left is to go to "File > Export!" Give it a nice name and install the .sims3pack or use this to make it a .package!

"BUT WAIT, STEVEY! MY STENCIL IS SUPER BLURRY/GRAINY! WHAT DO I DO?"

If your stencil looks a little fuzzy, just open your .png image back up in Gimp and go to Filters > Enhance > Unsharp Mask!
(I have my radius on 5.0 and the amount on .50 but you'll have to play around until you feel comfortable with the crispness of the image!)
Now just repeat step 16!

Ah! Now that's better! But don't make it too sharp, Workshop gives lousy previews so you might have to toy with it by going in game and testing it out.
